    Admissions Overview

The primary basis for admission is a parental commitment to accept their biblical mandate to train their children.

The primary basis for admission to Summit Christian Academy (SCA) is parental commitment to accept the school’s biblical mandate to train their children. The SCA School Board believes that education is a scriptural mandate, meaning that admission is open only to children whose parents are committed to Christian values as stated in the Family Handbook.

1. The following policy considerations will be applied when evaluating each family for admission of their child(ren):

  • At least one parent must subscribe to the SCA Statement of Faith.
  • Parents must view Christian education as a religious conviction.
  • At least one parent must be present at SCA school events, Information Night, and parent-teacher conferences (except in the case of exchange students, F-1).

2. Each student must be in good standing with the previous school attended (i.e., passing grades and a good behavior record). A student with poor academic performance and/or behavior problems will be placed on probation for one quarter. If results are improved, the student will be taken off probation and be officially enrolled at SCA.

3. There is a minimum age for students to apply for a grade level*:

  • K4 children must be four years of age by midnight on August 31st.
  • K5 children must be five years of age by midnight on August 31st
  • A child entering first grade must be six years of age by midnight on August 31st.

*Per WAC 180 39 015.

4. Each student who applies for enrollment will be administered the Entrance Test (English and math). Recommendations for acceptance will be made based on the results of the tests.

5. Secondary students (grades 6-12), must agree to attend SCA and must openly attest to their willingness to abide by all the procedures and school policies.

6. SCA does not assess or update IEPs, 504 plans or Service Plans, but aims to customize curriculum assignment and academic standards based on pre-existing plans according to the individual's academic needs. Thus, students with learning disabilities will be evaluated carefully with consideration of the type of disability, the severity of disability, and the capacity to accommodate that disability. SCA administration reserves the right to deny enrollment to students with learning disabilities if SCA lacks facilities and/or staff to meet the needs of such students in the fullest possible way.

7. SCA's mission involves working with the parents in the Christian education of students. Therefore we expect parents to be partners in nurturing their children and to agree to the following statement, “As a parent, I agree to support the school with my prayers and with a positive attitude. Complaints or negative comments will be shared ONLY with the teacher, principal, or the person involved and NOT with my child or other people, following the Matthew 18 principle.”

8. During the registration period, an appointment for a new family interview and student entrance tests will be made through the school office. This is a meeting where the goals, program, and commitment of the school will be presented.

  • After the interview and entrance testing, as well as reviewing the previous school’s report cards/records, the admission committee will determine whether or not the student is accepted for enrollment.
  • After the initial interview, parents will be notified by the SCA office regarding a decision to accept or deny the student’s enrollment within two weeks.
  • If a student is accepted, a fully completed and signed application form must be returned to the SCA office with registration fees paid in full.

9. Returning families should attend the Information Night, review the Family Handbook, and fill out the registration packet and return it promptly to the office to reserve a spot for their student.

In case of any questions or concerns reach out to SCA office via email summitacademy@ncek12.com or phone 509-924-4618.

The terms and privacy policy are reviewed by the Summit Christian Academy (SCA) administration annually; a notification is provided to currently enrolled families via email in the event of an update to the terms or privacy policy mid-year.

1. Application Terms & Agreements

The terms and privacy policy are reviewed and updated by the SCA administration annually. By re-enrolling or remaining enrolled after the terms or privacy policy is updated, you affirm your agreement to continue to be bound by these terms.

1.1 Statement of Faith

  • I understand that each subject within the SCA curriculum is Christian-based and agree to have my student fulfill SCA’s requirements.
  • I understand that Bible is a required course at SCA per the accreditation requirements of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). By enrolling our student(s) at SCA, we agree to follow the Biblical standards as outlined in the Family Handbook found on SCA’s website.

1.2 Academics

  • I understand that it is my responsibility to familiarize myself with the Family Handbook. Please note that the terms “parent” and “guardian” are used interchangeably at SCA.
  • I understand that I will be invited to register with the SCA Parents app (an online platform and mobile application for parents/guardians). I agree to check my SCA Parents app account at least once a week for school news and updates.
  • I understand the importance of my commitment and involvement to ensure success for my student, so I will make sure to create a focused learning environment at home where my student will be able to complete schoolwork without distractions.
  • I agree to check the email account that I provided on the enrollment form on a weekly basis for news from SCA regarding events, notices, and tuition, and I agree to respond as applicable.
  • I understand that students in grade 12 who meet SCA graduation requirements and comply with their state’s school requirements, in general, are accepted by public and private colleges and universities nationwide. I also understand that some colleges and universities have unique admission requirements, so it is my responsibility to contact colleges/universities that I am considering to determine what, if any, additional admission requirements exist.
  • I understand that SCA may highlight or showcase students with SCA’s stakeholders and/or for marketing purposes through internal or external communication, and that typically the student’s first name, last initial, and grade level would be used, except in cases where I provide written permission allowing for more personally identifiable information. An example includes a recording of a student spelling bee contest, which may include the winning student’s first name, last initial, grade level, and state of residence.

1.3 Attendance

  • I understand SCA will track my student’s school progress. I agree to notify the SCA office via phone in case of my student's absence as soon as possible.
  • I understand that, as an approved and accredited private online school, SCA abides by a truancy policy and as such reserves the right to withdraw a student who shows little or no progress within one quarter.
  • I understand that SCA reserves the right to deny enrollment to any student if the administration team believes that the family is unable to support their student’s academic needs sufficiently.

1.4 Withdrawal

  • I understand that in the event that I choose to withdraw my student from SCA for any reason and at any time, I am responsible for abiding by the withdrawal policy. I also understand that when I and/or another school request records from SCA, three to five business days may be required for the SCA office to prepare and send records to my student’s next school.
  • I understand that a report card/transcript will not be released until the withdrawal fee and tuition due are paid; this withdrawal policy applies if the withdrawal is initiated by myself or the SCA administration due to lack of payment, low academic progress, low attendance, and/or failure to comply with SCA policies.

1.5 Billing

  • I authorize SCA to electronically charge my debit card, credit card, or bank account for tuition and, if necessary, to electronically charge my debit or credit card to correct an erroneous transaction. I also understand that SCA may send the account to a debt collection agency if accounts are determined uncollectible.

1.6 Technical

All families need to opt into various forms of communication from SCA, including email, SMS text, and use of the SCA Parents app.

  • I understand that my student is expected to adhere to SCA’s online student behavioral policies as presented in the Family Handbook. I understand that if my student’s online or in-person activities pose a security risk to SCA or its students, SCA will take immediate action to disable their school accounts at which time a meeting will be arranged between the student, their parents/guardians, and the administration to discuss potential disciplinary actions to prevent such behavior.

Summit Christian Academy (SCA) assists parents in providing a Christian education for their children. The primary basis for admission to the program is a parental commitment to accept their biblical mandate to train their children. Since the SCA School Board believes that education is a scriptural mandate, admission is open only to children whose parents are committed to Christian values. In addition, the following policy considerations will be applied when evaluating each family for admission of their child(ren):

  • At least one parent must subscribe to the Statement of Faith.
  • Parents must view Christian education as a religious conviction.
  • At least one parent must be present at seminars, orientations, and parent-teacher conferences (except in the case of exchange students, F-1).

All school policies apply equally to all SCA families. Students are enrolled as space permits.

  1. Each student must be in good standing with the previous school attended (i.e., passing grades and a good behavior record). A student with poor academic performance and/or behavior problems will be placed on probation for one quarter. If results are improved, the student will be taken off of probation and be officially enrolled at SCA.

  2. Secondary students (grades 6-12) must commit to their willingness to attend SCA verbally and in writing, and they must openly attest to their willingness to abide by all the procedures and rules of SCA.

  3. Students with learning disabilities will be evaluated carefully, with consideration of the type of disability, severity of the disability, and the capacity of SCA faculty to accommodate that disability.

  4. SCA's mission involves working with the parents in the student’s Christian education, and so parents are expected to be partners in nurturing their children and to agree to the following statement:

    1. "As a parent I agree to support the school with my prayers and with a positive attitude. Complaints or negative comments will be shared ONLY with the teacher, administrator, or person involved and NOT with my child or other people, following the Matthew 18 principle."
  5. During the registration period, an appointment for a new family interview and student entrance test will be made through the local school administration. This is a meeting where the goals, program, and commitment of the school will be presented.

  6. After the interview and entrance testing and reviewing the previous school’s report cards/records, the admission committee will determine whether or not the student is accepted for enrollment.

  7. Within a week after the initial interview, parents will be notified by the SCA office regarding the principal's decision to accept or deny the student's enrollment.

If a student is accepted, a fully completed and signed application form must be returned to the local school office with all registration fees paid in full by the date established on the acceptance notification.

Returning families should:

  1. Attend the Information Night.
  2. Fill out the re-enrollment package (signatures are required by both parents/guardians)
  3. Bring it to the SCA office and pay the re-enrollment fee per student.
  4. Review the Family Handbook.
  5. Schedule an appointment with the SCA office with any questions or concerns.

Summit Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, sex, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the NCE. Overview:

Summit Christian Academy is partnering with Christian families to educate students in Bible knowledge and in a Christian worldview, to develop understanding in evangelical Christian values and principles, to train students in moral character, to provide quality academic education in knowledge and understanding, and to promote service to God and others.  For this reason, SCA has adopted an admission policy that opens to families who understand our spiritual stance and philosophy, who are supportive of SCA objectives and standards of education, and whose students meet our enrollment standards.
